If My People

Updated: Oct 6, 2021

As I opened my phone to scroll through facebook and check the morning newsfeed, a facebook memory met me. It was a picture of a building on the Leech Lake Reservation in Cass Lake, Mn. As I looked at it, my heart softened, I felt a pull, and a bittersweet memory came. I remember the excitement my husband had to turn this rundown building into a cafe that would reach the nations through supporting missions and giving a place for the people and teens of the reservation a place to go. A place where they could be embraced, a place where they could be heard, a place where they would continually meet the loving and merciful God.

I opened up the picture and sent it to my husband for him to experience the sweet memory of this building as it is one that still to this day brings a prick to our hearts.

As I put down my phone, I heard the scripture “If My people will humble themselves, and pray I will heal their land.” All I could think about when I gazed at the building was how much healing and life that one little cafe could bring to an entire reservation.

In Proverbs 22:4, it says "Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life."

Humility’s wages are riches and honor and life. When we humble ourselves to the Lord, we rid ourselves of our ideas, our desires, our plans, and we surrender with a whisper, “Not my will God, but Yours.” We find ourselves in open arms and open hands in Him trusting He is enough and He will fulfill our every need and desire. We become transformed into His likeness, we desire His desires, we become more like Him.

The Lord showed me IF my people will humble themselves, and pray, I will heal their land. Our land becomes healed because we did what the Lord asked us to do through surrendering our lives and praying to know what His will is. Once we are surrendered and we know what His will is, lands are healed. God works through us to heal the lands. He uses His people to build up nations, to restore what’s broken, to bring to life what is dead, to heal the broken hearted, to set the captives free! And He can use a little rundown building with people who love Him to transform hearts and atmospheres.

2 Chronicles 7:14 is not just a call to prayer, it is a call to obedience and movement.

What things are you hung up on that have possibly been stopping you from doing what God has been leading you to do? Take a leap and jump into the adventure that awaits, where miracles happen and lands are healed.
